Meeting: December 2018

Our December meeting, at the home of Judy Isaac, happily fell on Jane Austen's birthday. The punch-and-cake-fueled celebration offered historical and astrological observations about December 16, 1775, as well as information about Regency Christmas Eve and Christmas Day customs.

Our own regional traditions included a toast to our favorite author and a reading from Tennyson's In Memoriam ("Ring out the old, ring in the new").

A portrait of Jane Austen, painted by former Middle Tennessee member Dustin Deming, was displayed in a place of honor (which proved perfect for selfies!).

Rosanna Anderson, who read from In Memoriam;
Debbie Carroll, who gave the birthday toast; and hostess Judy Isaac.
