Meeting October 2016

At Middle Tennessee's fall meeting, held October 9 on the Montgomery Bell Academy campus, Bridget McAdam offered a deeply researched presentation on a little-studied topic. First given at the 2015 GM, "Excluded and Forgotten: Understanding the Life of George Austen through the History of Intellectual Disabilities" focused on social, economic and cultural factors that would have shaped the life of Jane's elder brother, who remained absent from Austen scholarship for decades after the writer's death.

We're also very proud of Pat McGraw, whose essay, "The World is Not Theirs: The Plight of Jane Fairfax in Emma," was printed in the Persuasions journal.
